Sammy Davis Jr. Deemed by some to be the greatest entertainer of his time. Born in Harlem, New York, Sammy Davis Jr. started his career as an entertainer together with the Will Mastin Trio at the age of three. By the time he was seven, he had his breakthrough as an actor in the movie Rufus Jones for President. On November 19th, 1954, he was involved in a car crash which caused him to lose his left eye. In the late 50’s, Sammy Davis Jr. became a member of the famous group Rat Pack, which got him reunited with his long time friend Frank Sinatra. In 1972, he had a hit record with his song The Candy Man, which paved the way for his nickname Mister Show Business.
